“Abort” is an indie first-person horror game that unravels a tragedy rooted in early East Asian society’s preference for sons and the misuse of gender testing. In the game, players must navigate this twisted world, solve puzzles, and piece together memory fragments to return to reality.

A female-led studio, founded in the summer of 2023, Dual-X is a collective of Eastern Asian students united by a shared vision. Our goal is to craft stories inspired by their mothers and sisters, aiming to provide not just entertainment but also ignite a movement of empowerment.

Leveraging social media as our storytelling canvas, we bring to light the 'elephant in the room'. Inspired by the intrigue of the horror genre of Abort and the enigmatic nature of our characters, our creative approach centers on the concept of clueboard, 80s-designed notebook, and the old newspaper. This innovative design choice reflects the game's narrative, unraveling a story set in 80s-90s China, deeply rooted in patriarchal values.
